Black Rock Shooter RPG teaser shown, awesome, but is it smart?

I was actually planning on writing something different today but I’m currently not in the mood to handle that subject. So, today I’ll just chat a bit about that Black Rock Shooter RPG.

So what is this Black Rock Shooter you might be wondering. That is a short OVA as an adaptation the song Black Rock Shooter from Supercell. He created this song with use of the Vocaloid program, known from Harsune Miku. The production of this OVA was supervised by Yutaka Yamamoto and directed by Shinobu Yoshioka, both known from the anime’s Lucky Star and the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. On top off that Yamamoto worked together with Nagaru Tanigawa write the script.

I’m a sucker with writing a synopsis without giving away spoilers so I’m not going any further then that into it, but if any of that sounds good or interesting to you check it out. So continue on to the game…

This game surely had some potential because it has a lot of room to create it’s story, and by that, it’s not held back by any plotline or events occurring in the anime. But this is also the major weakness with creating a game, there is only a really thin line of things to base it upon. It would have been nice to give it some more room to develop an anime to associate it with.

Nevertheless it doesn’t mean this game is doomed to fail or have plot holes. The producers behind this are Ryu’s Company, with the creative director Ryuta Konuma working on it. Ryuta also worked on Persona 3 and 4, and on Valkyria Chronicle II, so he knows how to make a good RPG. So hopefully this will be another piece of art by this company.
